Gregory L. Boothe Instructor Birth: Rupert, ID Wife and Family: Fara / 3 Children MA University of Phoenix Gregory L. Boothe was born in Rupert, Idaho. He was raised in Ogden, Utah, where he attended Ben Lomand High School and Weber State College. He served a mission to Brisbane, Australia, from 1974-1976. He married Fara Neeley on June 1, 1978 in the Ogden Temple. Brother Boothe has a bachelors and a master's degree from University of Phoenix, and has been employed by CES for sixteen years. His hobbies include writing and performing music, golf, and early morning basketball!

WALTER S. FIFE INSTRUCTOR Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho and raised in Idaho, Utah and Alberta, Canada. Served a Mission in Hamburg Germany. Married Dana Hunter (raised mostly in California and Hawaii) and together they have 7 children--6 boys and 1 girl. Since their marriage they have lived in Provo, Utah; Atlanta, Georgia; Logan, Utah; Loleta, California; and now Manti, Utah. Graduated with a BA in Communications and a Masters in Business Adminstration from BYU. Also earned a Ph.D. from Utah State University in Education. Hobbies include gardening, farming, reading, fishing and horse riding, but his #1 interest is his family.

Biography :

BIRTHPLACE: Payson, UT WIFE + FAMILY: Kathie/7 Children DEGREE: MEd from BYU Bro. Jenkins was raised on a farm in Nephi, Utah, where his roots run deep. (Four great-grandfathers settled there by 1855). After graduating from Juab High, he attended Snow College (yes, he finally came back) before serving his mission in the East Central States which interpreted means Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia. After deciding what he wanted to be in the middle of his senior year at BYU (not a highly recommended thing) he graduated in 1972 with a B.A. in Speech. He began his CES career in Gallup, New mexico and started the released time program there. Most of his teaching days have been spent in Monroe, Utah, at the seminary. He was invited to come to the Ephraim Institute in 2003. He loves teaching here and along with his other duties enjoys accompanying the LD Singers as their drummer. His only other hobby of any consequence would be spending time with his soon to be 17 grandchildren. He and his wife Kathie keep the road hot between Salt Lake City and St. George doing just that.

BORN: Tropic, UT He grew up in Tropic UT WIFE/FAMILY: Stacey. 8 Children Degrees: BA from SUU in Elementary Ed. Masters degree in Education from USU. Bill Pollock was born and raised in Tropic, Utah. He graduated from Bryce Valley High School, earned a Bachelors Degree from Southern Utah State College, and a Masters Degree from Utah State University. He served a Mission to Scotland in 1970-72. In 1975 he and his wife Stacey were married in the Manti Temple. They have eight children, 5 girls, 3 boys, and 17 grandchildren. In 1994, he survived a serious battle with throat cancer. His wife Stacey is also a cancer survivor. They are very grateful for the blessings of the gospel and its teachings in their lives. Brother Pollock loves to be outdoors and enjoys spending time with his family. He loves living in Ephraim, and associating with the students at Snow College. He is currently serving as the Stake President of the Ephraim College First Stake.

		JOSEPH F.SCHOLES

Biography :

Joseph F. Scholes Instructor Birth: Ogden, UT Wife and Family: Lela / 7 Children MEd from BYU Brother Scholes was raised in American Fork, Utah, from the ages of two to twelve when the family moved to The Dalles Oregon. Spending his teenage years in the mission field, he says, was the best thing that could have happened to his testimony. He served a mission in Chile in the ancient days when the whole country was one mission. Of that experience he says that it was the defining experience of his life. There is nothing he would trade for that two years. Following his mission he returned to BYU where he was introduced to the sister of one of his former companions. Brother and sister Scholes were married in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five sons and two daughters and so far three grandsons. After receiving his bachelors and masters degrees at BYU, Brother Scholes went to work for the Church Educational System. He taught seminary for five years in Pocatello, Idaho and then taught institute and supervised early morning seminary in North Carolina for fourteen years. (Go Tarheels!) He has taught at the Ephraim Institute since 1992. Brother Scholes enjoys hiking, fishing, gardening and raising bees. He believes the best kids in the world come to Snow College and says of those students, "They save me from the fate of becoming a hopeless old cynic. The future of the world is in good hands."

Biography :

John G. Scott Instructor Birth: Winnemucca, NV Wife and Family: Valene / 6 Children MEd from BYU John G. Scott was born in Winnemucca, Nevada. He was baptized in 1979 in Pullman, Washington, while attending Washington State University. After serving a mission in the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission, John received a B.S. in history and a secondary educational endorsement from Utah State University. He has also earned his M.Ed. Degree from Brigham Young University and received a special certificate of achievement in post graduation studies from the Logan Institute of Religion. Brother Scott has taught in the Church Educational System since 1984 as a seminary and institute instructor. Additionally, he has taught evening history classes for Western Wyoming College Outreach Program located in Afton, Wyoming. He has presented papers at two Sperry Symposiums on the campus of BYU and eight Church Educational Symposiums also held at BYU. John is the author and editor of "The Ten Commandments For Today" and an author and co-editor of "Riches of Faith". Brother Scott has held a variety of callings in the Church including Elder's Quorum President, Ward Mission Leader, 1 + 2 Counselor in the Bishopric and Young Single Adult Branch President. He and his wife, the former Valene Joyce Harralson, are the parents of six children. They currently reside in Ephraim, Utah. John is currently the Bishop of the Ephraim 3rd Ward.

Biography :

Dennis R. Sperry is new at the Ephraim Institute at Snow College. He is excited for this new and different teaching experience, after having taught Seminary at the Salina Seminary adjacent to North Sevier High School for the past 32 years. He came to Salina in 1975 as a younster, just out of BYU, having secured a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. There, he and his wife Teresa raised a family of one son and five daughters. He also received his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from BYU in 1981. Brother Sperry served his mission in the Argentina North Mission from 1969-1971. He was born in Nephi, Utah and attended school in Spanish Fork, graduating form Spanish Fork High School in 1968. He has enjoyed being involved in athletic competitions of every kind over the years, but now mostly enjoys reding about them in the "Sports Section" of the newspaper. He loves a good discussion about politics, but his favorite subject is anything concerning the scriptures. He is the grandfather of seven, and looking forward to this new chapter in his life.

		JOHN FVAN ORMAN

Biography :

John F. Van Orman Instructor John F. Van Orman has taught for CES through all of the 70's, 80's, 90's, and beyond. He began teaching at Olympus HS in Salt Lake City, was sent to Canada for 14 years where he was coordinator, teacher, TSC, and Associate Area Director in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Calgary, Alberta. He has been at the Ephraim Institute for the last 20 years and will probably die in Ephraim. Bro. Van Orman has a Master of Education degree in Comparative and International Education. He did not get a Doctorate Degree because he thinks people calling him MASTER sounds much better than Doctor Van Orman. Bro. Van Orman and his wife J.Lynne are the parents of six children. They also have 4 children-in-laws, 7 grandchildren, and one grand dog.
