Biography :

Elder Fred and Sister Susan Fairhurst are full time military relations missionaries, serving in the Colorado Colorado Springs Mission. One of their very favorite missionary duties is teaching their Book of Mormon Institute Class at Fort Carson. They are from Great Falls, Montana. They are the parents of eight children and grandparents of eighteen.

		John WHasler

Biography :

Brother Hasler has been with the Church Educational System (Seminaries and Institutes) for 35 years. He is married to the former Marjorie L. Evelyn of Bakersfield, California. Together they have reared 6 children (two sons and four daughters) and they have 18 grandchildren. He served a mission to the South German mission from 1966 to 1968. He earned his bachelor’s degree From Brigham Young University with a dual major in International Relations and German (1971). In 1981 he earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration, also from Brigham Young University. He taught four years of German prior to his CES career. Brother Hasler’s previous CES assignments have been with seminaries in Provo, Utah and Salt Lake City. He previously taught at institutes adjacent to the University of Utah and the University of Oklahoma.

Biography :

Brother Steve Hendricks is a graduate from the United States Air Force Academy and now a Major in the Air Force and just returned from a tour in Iraq. While a cadet at the Academy he served as the Institute Council President. We are happy to have him back in Colorado Springs and serving in the Institute.

Biography :

Brother McLay is originally from the pre-existence. About thirty-five years ago, he was born into a wonderful family in Las Vegas, Nevada. He grew up, however, predominately in Utah. He served a full-time mission in Portugal from 1992-1994. Afterwards, he worked for two and a half years as a teacher and supervisor at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. He and his beautiful wife, Brooke, were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1996, and graduated from BYU together in 1998. In 2003, he earned a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado. He is currently employed by the Seminaries and Institutes of Religion division of the Church Educational System as a Released-time Seminary Principal and Institute Teacher. He also teaches Sociology part time at a community college, directs Holy Land (Egypt/Israel) and Church History Tours, teaches and directs for EFY in the summer, and has been a presenter at BYU Campus Education Week. Brother McLay and his wife have four children (Andrew, Rebecca, and the twins—Jacob and Alyssa), and they live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Brother McLay enjoys spending time with his wife and children, laughing out loud, playing basketball and soccer, weightlifting, running, teaching, reading, writing, learning, and eating ice cream. He currently serves as a counselor in his ward Bishopric. Brother McLay is hearing impaired, and wears hearing aids. When asked if he could change one thing about his life, he smiled and said, "What?!" Brother McLay loves life and considers himself an abundantly blessed man.

Biography :

Bro. Mills is a member of the Colorado Springs 9th Ward in the Colorado Springs North Stake. He is presently a member of the Bishopric and serving in the Denver Temple. He has also served in several High Councils, in the High Priest’s Group as an Assistant, as an Elder’s Quorum President and Counselor, Stake Young Men’s President, Scoutmaster, as Sunday School and Primary Teacher s. He recently retired after 34 years at Agilent Technology and has been an instructor at Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University and University of Colorado: Colorado Springs. He has been married to the former Devie Wagstaff for 37 years, has 8 children and 15 grand-children.
