  • CHOIR

"Among your many choices for Institute classes, stands one outstanding option! Institute Choir! Here in this Institute class you will meet some of the best people in all of the Tempe Institute. In this class we combine Gospel instruction and insight with the singing of hymns and other sacred music. In this class we sing lots. Mostly we sing hymns and hymn arrangements. We do not have auditions for this class either. You are invited to come and share whatever talent you have in the area of singing. This year, our new mid-week forum schedule has provided the choir with a built in performance each week. Once every four class sessions, our choir will meet in the East chapel to attend the forum. We will sing what we have rehearsed during the previous weeks for the forum. This is one way we can strive to provide a spiritual climate for our outstanding speakers who come to speak to us each week. Most of what we sing will be in S.A.T.B. format, some pieces we will sing are A Capella, but most of what we sing will be simple enough that even the amateur singer will love choir. Come sing with us and get some Institute credit while you are here. This class meets on either Monday and Wednesday or on Tuesday and Thursday. Both classes will rehearse the same numbers. There is no reason to enroll in both sections. We would encourage you to take one section only of choir per semester and enroll in one of many other classes taught here. Come! Sing with us!" Sincerely, Michael C. Hofeling Instructor and Choir Director Tempe Institute of Religion
